Early Closing Of Entry For Antigua Sailing Week

Antigua Sailing Week, 52nd edition is yet again shaping up regatta and is not going to miss the Caribbean Regatta Season of 2019. A large variety of yachts is known to have committed to the event already. Sailors from all over the world are looking forward to savouring the excellent racing with added live entertainment dance all night.

Antigua Sailing Week has been an international regatta. The early entries for the regatta have seen a team from across North America, Europe, and also some teams from Caribbean islands. In order to get early entry to Antigua Sailing Week by keeping US$4 per foot, the teams have to enter and pay by 31st December 2018.

The various kinds of yachts, that competing are just exceptional. These range from Maxi Ocean Racers and high-end multihulls to performance cruisers and TP52s. There will also be Sports boats and bare boats.

Lorna Saunders, the ASW Racing manager has stated that a new initiative will be taken this year which will be to spot equipment check for ensuring that the boat adheres to the minimum safety rules of ASW. As a matter of fact, they have also introduced a trophy for the youth sailors. For this trophy, the boat needs to have 50% of the crew inclusive of the driver to be below 25 years of age.

Antigua Sailing Week is going to have a class for the team that is double-handed. Since safety is the main priority, the double-handed class should have its own start. Also, the courses are going to be planned carefully for accommodating participants that are double-handed. The courses are going to be a mix of round cans having bit long legs and at sometimes coastal race. For Peters and May Round Antigua Race, a new race record for the entries of Double-handed are going to be present.
