Dolphin was purchased by Adventures in Paradise in April of 2002, moved from Stamford to Norwalk Cove Marina in May of 2002, hauled out of the water to begin the refit on June 23rd, 2002, and work in earnest began in July 2002 and will continue until complete, planned for late in 2007.Dolphin is undergoing a complete restoration and refit which will include repair and replacement of rusted frames, refastening and restoring the hull planks, remounting all portholes and adding additional new ones, recaulking and refinishing the hull and decks, installing new diesel power, generator, batteries, electrical system and all wiring, all new plumbing, watermaker, heads, galley, holding tanks and pumps, rebuilding the upper deck salon and pilot house, rebuilding all interior accommodations and cabinetry, rebuilding the transom, lazarette and aft deck, restoring and refinishing the spars and replacing all of the running rigging.
Advance bookings for Charters and participation in the restoration and refitting of Dolphin through apprenticeships, training programs, volunteer labor, materials, donations, tax deductible grants (see Schooner Dolphin Foundation) as well as equity investment as an owner (see Ownership) are invited and welcome.
